2010年春夏，墨西哥湾发生石油泄漏事故，至少400万桶原油从英国石油公司的深海钻井台流入海中。尽管进行了油污清除工作，但是大量的油污仍然扩散到峰值68000平方英里的海域中。数不清的海洋生物、野生动物和该地区居民的生计都将被影响数年。
This group of photographs shows scenes of the
Gulf of Mexico in the spring and summer of 2010, when at least four million
barrels of crude spilled from the BP-Deepwarter Horizon wellhead. Despite the
cleanup efforts, the flow of oil spread across an area of 68,000 square miles of
water surface at its peak and impacted an untold number of marine life, wildlife
and the livelihoods of regional residents for years to come.
